Book Fair Coordinator and Helpers

Responsibilities of Coordinator (1):

The coordinator facilitates the sale of either Chanukah or Passover-related items to the BJEP community.  Traditionally for Chanukah BJEP works with Shuki’s Judaica Jewlery & Gift  (www.shukisjudaica.com), located 499 Worcester Road, Framingham, MA 01701  (508) 370-0990. For Passover BJEP works with Kolbo, 437 Harvard Street, Brookline, MA (617) 731-8743 (Speak with the General Manager of the store)

  • Call store at least one month ahead to request a selection of books to sell at the Fair.  Confirm that BJEP will get 20% of the profits.
  • Arrange for Book Fair Helpers to pick up books and other items from stores.
  • Confirm that Book Fair Helpers plan to put up at least four posters on the day of event to remind parents of the Book Fair.
  • Arrive at 9:00 on day of Book Fair to display books.
  • Sell books from 9:30 am to 12:15 pm on day of Book Fair.
  • Keep track of all items sold.
  • Make sure that Book Fair Helpers are returning unbought items to store.
  • Hand over all checks and money to BJEP treasurer.
  • The BJEP Treasurer will submit payment to the bookstore as per their invoice.

Book Fair Helpers (2):

  • Pick up books and other items from bookstore. Verify the inventory. We will be billed for anything that doesn’t get returned.
  • Make and put up signs to remind parents of the book fair. Tape of doors of BJEP classroom buildings
  • Tables to display books for this event are located in Golding 101. They should be moved from the classroom to Golding Lobby.
  • Sell books from 9:30 am to 12:15 pm on day of Book Fair.
  • Help track all items sold.
  • Return tables to Golding 101
  • Bring unbought items back to bookstore.

Supplies Needed:

  • Copy of the inventory sheets – so you can keep track of what has been sold.
  • Change
  • Tape – to hang signs and poster on outside of building
  • Pens
  • Envelopes
  • Cash box or shoebox
  • Calculators
  • Nametags for volunteers
  • Any signs you may want for the sale (or blank paper to make signs on the spot)
  • Plastic bags for people to put in their books.

Please note: Parents will only be reimbursed for expenditures over $50.00, with the first $50.00 deducted.
