Room Parents

The room parent is the link between parents, the teacher, and classroom activities.  The room parent should:

  • Introduce self to teacher and explaining that he/she is available to help support the teacher and communicate with the class families.
  • Email reminders or phone call to parents for all class events.
  • Organize class lunch (most likely, pizza) where teachers, parents, children and siblings are invited to stay after regular BJEP hours and eat lunch together.   This involves contacting school administration and setting up a date, informing families in your child’s class of this date and soliciting parents to bring food items (usually pizza, salad and drinks—cost to be divided among participant families) and paper goods (can often just get from pizza place).  Please note:  While the food need not be strictly kosher, it should be vegetarian/dairy.

Please note: Parents will only be reimbursed for expenditures over $50.00, with the first $50.00 deducted.
